Bono will reach out into the crowd and dance or mess with someone in the crowd at every concert. He was, however, incredibly enthusiastic about the band, extremely charismatic, a great writer, and was strangely able to reach the audience when the band played, something he is known for still today. He auditioned as lead vocals, but really couldn't sing. According to legend, Bono originally auditioned as a guitarist but couldn't play. The band then consisted of the four current members plus three additional guitarists, including The Edge's brother Dick Evans (later a member of Virgin Prunes), Ivan McCormick and Peter Martin. Members: Bono (vocals / guitar / harmonica), The Edge (guitar / keyboards / vocals), Adam Clayton (bass guitar) and Larry Mullen (drums / percussion).įoundation: The band originally formed in 1976 when Larry Mullen posted a bulletin in his school asking for musicians to form a rock band. How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, their latest album, has sold over 12 million copies worldwide and won the Grammy for Album Of The Year. Of another ten albums, eight have topped the UK charts. Los Angeles, CA The ForumĪ Dublin, Ireland, rock band - released their first studio album, Boy, in 1980. Whether you're a U2 fan or not, this show is something you should witness, you can sing along with the songs you know and be in awe of the imagination and brilliance of the U2 team and the spectacular show they deliver. All in all, this concert was both an aural and visual pleasure, the boys seem to out do themselves each time they come around. The screens they have all along the aisle tell an amazing story, sometimes giving you a visual for the songs they were playing and other times just a history of the boys and where they grew up or telling you of the charities Bono and the boys are involved in. u2, as always, performed spectacularly, playing a lot of the better known big hits and songs from their last two albums, which are some of their best work. Bono and the boys used all three, the main stage, the aisle, and the secondary stage almost equally, in-other-words there wasn't a bad spot in the venue to be, especially of you were in the GA section, like I was. The main stage, of course, with an aisle, splitting the GA crowd, leading to a smaller, secondary stage. but, for this show, U2 had an amazing stage, or should I say stages. As far as big venues go The Forum is a good one.
